The Dreamlovers Bio/Wiki 2018

The Dreamlovers were an early-’60s Philadelphia-based R&B quintet formed in 1956. The group – Don Hogan (lead), Adam Dunn (bass), his sibling Clifton Dunn (baritone), and tenors Tommy Ricks and Cleveland Hammock – had been originally known by other names, like the Romancers (for the demo tape delivered to the Cameo/Parkway label) as well as the Midnighters (for the 1958 leap tune known as “The Twist,” support a new character called Ernest Evans, afterwards renamed Chubby Checker). Furthermore, they documented for V-Tone briefly before putting your signature on with Heritage Information. Their biggest strike independently was 1961’s uplifting “WHENEVER WE Get Wedded,” a reverent homage in vocal tranquility harkening back again to doo wop’s heyday. The documenting featured a complete sound of tranquility with the group and a solid lead by Hogan over melodic vibraphone instrumentation. They returned towards the charts on the smaller scale another year with “EASILY Should Lose You,” a ballad for George Goldner’s End Records, and were able to record a number of mouth watering samples of East Coast R&B groove and vocal harmony, including a slow doo wop-styled ballad (“I’m Thru With You”) and an infectious up-tempo dance number (“Anna Belle Lee”). Because they continuing documenting, their vocal design seemed to transformation with the days, often sounding before their period. “WHENEVER WE Get Wedded” was afterwards revived with the Intruders in 1970.
