Patrick led the Panthers to an 11-2 record and the quarter-finals of the Division I-AA Playoffs in 1986. He became a part of the Sigma Chi Fraternity while at the University. The Eastern Illinois team was known as the “Eastern Airlines” under trainer Al Molde because of their prolific passing attack that frequently topped 300 yards per game. They also had 509 passing yards in one game that’s a high school record.

Payton has been head coach for the New Orleans Saints since 2006. The made it to the 2006 NFL Playoffs after a 3-13 season in 2005 and he won the AP NFL Coach of the Year Award. On March 21, 2012, he was suspended for the whole 2012 season due to his involvement in the bounty scandal. It’s about the amount of money offered to players who caused injuries that could take targeted players on adversary teams out of the game. It was powerful on April 1, 2012.
