John Anthony Aniston was born as Yannis Anastasakis on July 24, 1933 in the island of Crete in Greece. He’s popularly referred to as the actor John Aniston and also the daddy to the actress Jennifer Aniston. The family migrated to the United States when he was two years of age and his dad, Antonios Anastassakis, anglicized his name and changed it to Aniston.

Since 1975, Aniston has appeared nearly continuously in soap operas. His beginning was in Love of Life as Eddie Alatea. He’s best known for his role as Viktor Kiriakis in the daytime drama Days of our Lives or DAYS on NBC. He was likely to play the part of Ted Baxter in the very first season of Mary Tyler Moore (1970) before Ted Knight was located. He originally auditioned for the part of Doug Williams in DAYS.

John Aniston was married twice. Jennifer is his daughter with his first wife Nancy Dow. Alexander is his son along with his second wife Sherry Rooney Aniston. He is the former son-in-law of Brad Pitt and his best friend was Telly Savalas, the godfather of Jennifer. He speaks fluent Greek and Spanish. He appeared on the first cover of Soap Opera Digest in November 1975.
