Born Herschel Junior Walker on March 3, 1962 in Wrightsville, Georgia, he is certainly one of the seven children of Willis and Christine Walker. He played for the Johnson County High School Trojans from 1976 to 1979. He rushed for 3, 167 yards and helped the Trojans to win their very first state championship. He was granted the first Dial Awards as 1979 national high school scholar-athlete of the year.

Walker also played for the Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. Walker was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1999.
