Produced on November 1, 1919 in a small town in Romania, her first husband, Hans Stein, expired in a concentration camp. She launched Edith Flagg, Inc. with focused on mid-cost lines of dresses for the “Average American Woman.” Flagg specialized in dress and jacket outfits along with casual clothing in the five lines she made each year. From the 1950’s to early 1990’s, the firm was one of the popular dress manufacturers in the United States. Flagg retired the business in 2000.
Flagg and her husband have written articles and editorials for Women’s Wear Daily and California Apparel News. They were also the co authors of a weekly column called By the Way. In 1971, they were elected to the Advisory Board of Directors for Manufacturers Bank. The Advisory Boardof grandson, Jason Flagg, who is an American real estate agent and media personality, brought her back to public curiosity. Jason is now featured in the reality series Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles and he wrote a book about his grandma’s life.
