Drogba played for Chelsea in the Premier League, where he was deputy vice captain, and is the captain and all-time top scorer of the Cte d’Ivoire national football team. He currently plays as a centre forward for Shanghai Shenhua. The Ivory Coast striker is Chelsea’s top scoring overseas player ever, success that has been rewarded using a 105,000 a week contract. On 22 May 2012, Chelsea reported on its official website; Drogba will likely be leaving the club after eight-year stay in west London. He signed a two and a half year deal worth 200,000 a week with Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua F.C.

Drogba has allegedly spent more than 1 million into his Didier Drogba Foundation in the year 2012. He’s raising 3 million towards the price of building a kids’ hospital in Abidjan, his home city in Ivory Coast. A charity ball was held in March 2012 at the Dorchester hotel in London for the foundation, the event liberally supported by his former teammates and many others from the footballing world. All his net income from profitable commercial deals with Pepsi, Nike and Samsung are diverted to charitable causes. His firm, Clubnote, saw assets increase from 285,000 to 618,000 in 2011.
