The first gospel act to include hip-hop influences (although trio rarely departs from standard pop/rock), dc Talk became perhaps one of the most popular groups in Christian contemporary music through the mid-’90s, when their fourth album, Jesus Freak, made the best debut for the gospel act on Billboard’s album charts.
