Da Brat is an American rapper and celebrity with an estimated net worth of $1.5 million. Shawntae was raised to the West Side of Chicago; because her parents never wed, she split up time being raised by her mother and dad. Shawntae Harris graduated in the School of Scholastic Achievements, a charter school for at risk pupils in 1993. In 1992 Harris got her big break when she won a local rap contest which was sponsored by Yo! MTV Raps. For the prize, her big got to meet cool-cool duo Kriss Kross. The couple presented her big to music producer Jermaine Dupri. Dupri signed Harris to his So So Def music label.

Dupri assembled her picture, advertising her as the “female Snoop Doggy Dogg”. In 1994 Da Brat released her first studio album Funkdafied. It debuted in the No. 1 position on the rap records charts. Her follow up single “Give It to You” peaked at No.26 on the Billboard Hot 100. The record sold over one million copies, making it a certified platinum record by the Recording Industry Association of America. Da Brat dropped her sophomore record in 1996. The record entitled Anuthatantrum included the single “Ghetto Love” which featured T-Boz from TLC. Da also recorded the hit remix of “Ladies Night” with Lil’ Kim, Left Eye, Angie Martinez, and Missy Elliott. She’s appeared in the movies Kazaam (1996), Glitter (2001), Carmen: A Hip Hopera (2001), Civil BRand (2002).
