He has been performing in movies since 1992 and in television shows since 1993. Hauser was born in California. Hauser has a mixture of German, Irish and Jewish descent. His parents were divorced when he was a just two years old. Cole narrated this after about 15 years, and met his dad as a result of the separation laws. His dad during this time made him audition for pictures. He always participated in sports enthusiastically, but was not that dedicated to his studies. The audience adored his performance in the play, Dark of the Moon. He received a standing ovation because of his acting.

His wife is a former photographer and performer, who played the role of Francine Pascal for the show Sweet Valley High. Hauser and his wife have two sons.
