Bill Parcells was born on August 22, 1941 in Englewood, New Jersey. After graduation from River Dell Regional High School, Bill attended Colgate University. He was offered a contract to play for the Philadelphia Phillies. Yet, his father disapproved because he wanted him to study law. Eventually, he studied in the University of Wichita where he finished his degree in physical education. In 1964, he was selected as a 7th round pick from the Detroit Lions but was released before he even got the opportunity to play in one NFL game. In 1979, he became the defensive coordinator of the New York Giants. He additionally served as the head coach of the New York Jets from 1997 through 1999.
