Army of Lovers Bio/Wiki 2018

The flamboyant multicultural Swedish dance-pop group Army of Enthusiasts formed in 1987, the brainchild of composer and producer Alexander Bard. Five years previous Bard first surfaced as an associate from the short-lived trio Baard, most widely known for the solitary “Life inside a Goldfish Dish.” In 1985 – in pull, believe it or not – he led Barbie, a music group also made up of hairdresser Jean-Pierre Barda (alias Farouk), Yazmina Chantal, and model Camilla Henemark (aka Katanga); 2 yrs later on, Bard, Barda, and Henemark (right now performing beneath the name La Camilla) founded Military of Lovers, acquiring the name honoring the 1970s cult film Armee der Liebenden. Using designer and stylist Camilla Thulin, the group created an outrageously campy image, the bandmembers’ wardrobe drawing heavily on religious imagery while also referencing history and folklore. Military of Enthusiasts debuted in 1988 using the solitary “When the night time Is Chilly,” accompanied by the greater dance-minded “Like Me Just like a Loaded Weapon.” After rating a 1989 strike with “Supernatural,” the next year they released their debut LP, Disco Extravaganza (released in the U.S. as Military of Enthusiasts). Released in 1991, Substantial Luxury Overdose, documented with maker Anders Wollbeck, was their discovery; in tandem with a set of lurid video clips, the singles “Crucified” and “Obsession” became golf club hits, and Military of Enthusiasts became major celebrities in their indigenous Scandinavia and throughout Eastern European countries. In the wake from the record’s success, however, La Camilla was fired and changed by magic size and school teacher Michaela Dornonville de la Cour, who debuted for the single “Judgment Day.” After documenting music for the soundtrack towards the film Ha Ett Underbart Liv, Military of Enthusiasts recruited previous phone-sex operator Dominika Peczynski and released 1993’s The Gods of Globe and Heaven; the sole “Israelism” became the main topic of substantial controversy when it had been accused of mocking Jewish tradition, but ironically increased to the main i’m all over this the Israeli pop graphs. After 1994’s Glory Glamour and Yellow metal, de la Cour exited, paving just how for the come back of La Camilla before the launch of 1996’s Les Greatest Strikes. With Military of Fans on hiatus, Bard produced a fresh group, Vacuum, and released 1997’s The Plutonium Cathedral; La Camilla, on the other hand, mounted a single career.
