She is nicknamed “Chicken Legs” by her track teammates in high school. She went pro after graduation when she was not able to compete for her college team and following signing a deal with Adidas. At the age of 18, she won a silver medal in the 200 meters at the 2004 Olympics behind Veronica Campbell of Jamaica.

The award was handed out from the US Track & Field to the association’s athlete of the year.

Her mother, Marlean, is an elementary school teacher at Balboa Magnet Elementary. Marlean’s older brother Wes Felix can be a sprinter. Felix is a god-fearing Christian. She attended Los Angeles Baptist High School in North Hills, CA. She’s a degree in elementary education from the University of Southern California. Felix’s specialty is the 200 meter race. In the 2012 Olympic, she won the gold, two silver medals and three world championship gold medals. In the 2012 Summer Olympics, her three gold medals would be the most a female track athlete has won since 1988.
